Taramis learns that her twin sister is alive and has managed to take her place on the throne of Khauran.
Salome, posing as Taramis, orders the Khauran army to disband and turn control of the city over to Constantius and his men, but Conan refuses her order. The army is slain, and Conan is taken prisoner.
Constantius has Conan nailed to a cross in the desert. Conan is later rescued by Olgerd, leader of a band of outlaws.
Seven months later, with Salome's impersonation of Taramis complete, she and Constantius have been ravaging the city of Khauran.
Marcois learns that Taramis is still alive and being held in the dungeon by Salome.
Conan takes control of the army that Olgerd had gathered and prepares to attack Khauran.
Constantius and his army meet Conan and his army in the desert outside Khauran.
Conan and Marcois rescue Taramis from Salome's dungeon.
Conan gets his revenge on Constantius.
