Stormwatch is on a mission to recover a Seedling when they run afoul of the Mercs who are trying to capture the child for themselves. They drive the Mercs off but Battalion's friend, Windsor, is killed in the process. When he gets home, Jackson discovers that his young brother, Malcolm, is in trouble with the police for robbery. Later, at the memorial service for Windsor, the Mercs attack again and try to capture Malcolm who is a Seedling himself. Synergy activates Malcolm's latent powers for his own protection.
