Aliens from the planet Kallabar board an Earth spaceship, but find no humans aboard.

Aliens from the planet Kallabar demand the Earth surender to them or face total destruction. In response, Earthmen construct a specially designed spaceship to travel to Kallabar and meet the challenge head on.

From the time he was a little boy, David Haddon's scientist father experimented on his son, developing an uncanny advanced "homing instinct" in him. By age twenty David's homing instinct is so finely developed that the elder Haddon medically awakens an "ancestral memory" in David so that he may find "mankind's original home -- somewhere in the stars!" His homing instinct leads David to a distant planet where man's scientific meddling caused evolution to take a different path than on Earth.

Captain Jenkins and the crew of the Columbus land on the planet Klygor and discover a deserted city where a plaque says it was "built in the year 2558 by the officers and crew of the spaceship Columbus" and signed by Captain Jenkins... but no one has any memory of constructing such a city - or ever having been on the planet before. In addition, planetary conditions are breaking-down the spaceship element by element.

Discusses primates that have "hands", whether or not a spider's web material is dispensed in solid form, and that tomatoes and cucumbers are actually fruits and not vegetables.

Julius Schwartz (or whoever may have ghost-written this column for him) offers the following: "While this department was in receipt of a few more comments on issue #2 of From Beyond the Unknown, none of these 'messages' was worthy of print. All of which give us timely opportunity to reprint a readers' column from the February, 1960 Mystery in Space Please keep that date in mind as you read it - plus that other memorable date - July 20, 1969 - mankind's first step on the Moon!" A letter from "A.G." from New York, NY speculates about the date when Earthmen will set foot on the Moon. In response, Schwartz offers several paragraphs of comments by experts on the subject. All told, the introduction, letter, and provided comments comprise about 3/4 of the letter column.
