By day, Logan works in a quarry, mining stone and becoming a valuable member of the camp. By night, Logan runs with a pack of wolves, hunting and letting his bestial side run free. When Logan gets promoted to dynamite duty, the camp cook, who hates him, snips the fuses and causes some of the miners to get caught in a cave-in. Logan survives and finally has a showdown with his tormenter, Cookie. He also finds Rose smooching up on the camp boss, Smitty. Back in Alberta, Logan's grandfather, who is on his deathbed, sends Dog out to bring James home.
