In New York, Shang-Chi is tracked down by his childhood friend M'nai, now known as Midnight, an assassin in the service of Fu Manchu. He means to kill Shang-Chi, and out of respect for their shared history, Shang-Chi holds back. When Shang-Chi finally engages Midnight with his full power, Midnight plunges to his death.

Danny completes his training in K'un-Lun and acquires the power of the Iron Fist but rather than partake of immortality, he decides to return to his own world and seek vengeance against his parents' killer, Harold Meachum. On arriving in New York, Danny faces assassins who are trying to collect a ten thousand dollar bounty against him.

Wounded and stalked by Fu Manchu's assassins Jekin and Dahar, Shang-Chi makes his way through the Florida swamps. He is saved by the wise man Lu Sun while the assassins meet their final fate when they try to attack the mysterious Man-Thing. Meanwhile, Sir Denis and Black Jack Tarr make an unsuccessful attempt at apprehending Fu Manchu.
