A flashback story. Thirteen-year-old Maggie is planning on leaving Sal's Garage because her job there is causing her to lose her friends. She forgets all about it when Harvey introduces her to her first prosolar job. She then goes to tell her best friend Letty but unbeknownst to her Letty has died in a car accident, off-panel.
Howard Miller walks the streets of Palomar photographing its citizens. He has an encounter with Tonantzin, who gets the idea he can help her get noticed by Hollywood. When Theo introduces Miller to some of the ruins outside town, Miller gets lost in one of them and has an hallucinatory experience. He returns home in a shaken frame of mind and finds Tonantzin waiting for him.

This issue marks the major turning point in Jaime Hernandez's Locas stories. Previous issues focused on light sci-fi adventure stories with some slice of life vignettes. From here on out the sci-fi elements are discarded leaving the low key drama dominant and front and center.
