When the police make little effort to solve the crime, reporter Tom Halloway tries to get to the bottom of the affair and interviews a number of colorful underworld characters including imprisoned shrink, Xavier, himself. Inspired by the pulps heroes, Tom puts on a costume and tracks down the X-Men but gets a less than friendly reception.
