Superman must battle a new villain who has invented a machine that can materialize two-dimensional figures out of the comics to rob for him.

Superman recalls his college days, particularly the professor who tried to scientifically prove that Clark Kent was Superboy.

While in the Mexican jungle reporting on an Aztec tomb, the Planet staff is magically whisked to a red sun planet where Clark has no powers. Superman has to fake super feats to reassure the Planet staff that everything is under control.

An imp from another dimension plagues Superman with practical jokes until he can make him say his name backwards.

Clark and Lois decide to go to the movies, but when Clark discovers that it's the latest Fleischer Superman cartoon, he has to think fast to keep Lois from discovering that he is Superman.

John Bates has Clark Kent appear on his TV show "The Eye of Metropolis" in order to expose his double life as Superman.

• The Mysterious Mr. Mxyzptlk! - The original's Mr. Mxyztplk's name changed to Mr. Mxyzptlk throughout this story and in the story title. Mxyztplk is pronounced "Mix-yizt-pulk" according to Alvin Schwartz. Name was changed to Mxyzptlk in 1958. Writer credit claimed by Jerry Siegel in a letter to Richard Morrissey that states this story was written prior to earlier printed newspaper sequence by Whitney Ellsworth and Wayne Boring.
