Riots break out around the world following an assassination attempt on Fury. Other agents are being killed and the leaders of the riots exhibit no emotions. Aboard the Heli-Carrier a meeting of the board of directors is interrupted by a transmission from Supremus, who orders SHIELD to disband in the wake of Fury's death. Supremus plans to turn the world into a "laboratory" using genetic manipulation to turn the human race into slaves. With the help of Fatima, a woman seen at the riot in London, Nick stops Supremus from setting off hidden caches of "zombie gas" in the US by remote control.
