Kull and Brule enter a temple to the Valusian snake-god which is guarded by a giant undersea beast. There he meets Thulsa Doom for the first time, who pretends to be an ally and asks to return with them to the City of Wonders.

An escaped convict looks to buy a house that has the reputation of being haunted so people will steer clear of him, but when he meets up with a real estate agent turns out to be the ghost that haunts the prospective property, he turns himself in to the police for his own protection.

Humanoid robots are banned, but their inventor keeps one in secret, and aliens try to turn it against humanity. It resists and they are forced to flee, but the robot?s inventor thinks that it disobeyed him by leaving hiding, not knowing that it saved humanity.
