Karlota saves baby Luba from being harmed by Maria's husband El Se?or who kicks her and Maria out of his mansion because he realizes Luba is not his child. With no family or place to go, Maria stays at Eduardo's place. Juan, Eduardo's ex-coworker, hits him in the head with a club, takes his money and leaves town. Eduardo's head injury causes him to start drinking and miss work. Eventually, Maria leaves town and then later Karlota. All alone, Eduardo leaves with Luba in tow.

What happened during Izzy's trip to Mexico after her divorce, abortion and suicide attempt as she learns to confront her fears and her guilt, all the while being haunted by the devil himself. Or is that the devil herself?

The indicia incorrectly gives the first printing date of January 1988.

  • Love & Rockets Issue 29 ? March 1989 - Production credits, indicia and a background illustration from the Flies on the Ceiling story. Printed on inside front cover.
  • Poison River [Chapter 1] - Part one of the earliest origins of Luba and her mother Maria, her father Eduardo and her cousin Ofelia. The opening five pages are wordless, making it somewhat ambiguous on why Maria was kicked out of the mansion. In the reprint collections for this story, additional dialogue is added making it explicitly clear why she was kicked out.
  • Flies on the Ceiling (The Story of Isabel in Mexico) - The story takes place years earlier, before the first issue of the series. The trip to Mexico was mentioned before in the "Locos" story from issue seven and in "The Secrets of Life and Death: Vol. 5" story from issue nineteen.
  • El Show de Chota - Back cover. Features a parody of the singer Charo.
