A story told in flashback revealing more details of the origins of Volthoom, the First Lantern. This story shows how billions of years ago, Rami helped Volthoom to learn how to use the first power ring, until the power of the ring drove Volthoom mad and Rami created the first seven Green Lantern rings from pieces of the Travel Lantern and sent them to find worthy beings that could stand against Volthoom. We see one of the rings choose Calleen of Alstair to be another of the first seven Green Lanterns.
- The First Ring - This story adds details to Volthoom's origin from issue #18. This story would take place during the events of issue #18, after Volthoom claimed the fist ring and before he mastered it and was imprisoned by the first seven Green Lanterns. Simon and Jessica do not appear in this story.
