Speleologists Henri and Jean, longtime friends, become wealthy after discovering valuable minerals in caverns throughout Europe. Unbeknownst to them, they are under observation by the creatures who dwell beneath the surface. Their friendship is strained when Inger (whom they both courted) marries Jean. While exploring the Harz mountains, Henri and Jean find humor in their failed attempts to murder each other and resolidify their friendship. Unfortunately the subterranean creatures have cut their lines to the surface.

Mr Blanque who was born without a face visits artists' agent Jack Spaulding who manages sculptor Carol Marino. Carol agrees to design a complete head for Mr Blanque and makes great progress. Jack wants to take up with Carol but she refuses as long as Jack is married. Mr Blanque, deeply grateful to Jack reluctantly agrees to murder Mrs Spaulding. In the closing scene, Carol tells Jack that she had given Mr Blanque Jack's fingerprints.

Jabez Monchek has lived alone in his sprawling house since he was a small boy, unable to leave because the doors to the outside have disappeared from his view and the windows are barred. He only sees Murry a young boy who delivers his groceries. He envies Murry's ability to "walk through walls". His guest Carla encourages him to go outside, but he insists there are no doors he can walk through. After Carla leaves in apparent frustration, many doors to the outside start to appear but Jabez cannot make up his mind which one to walk through.

Major Arnold Stone and the crew of spaceship Urgus land on Asteroid-X 13 where they encounter ghostly figures from Earth's ancient past. The ghosts state their intention to invade Earth and attempt to commandeer Major Stone's ship. Stone repels the attack and returns his crew safely to Earth. All humankind is thus forewarned of this potential menace.

  • No Way Out - Jabez is about to read HP Lovecraft (whom he strongly resembles) just before Carla arrives. On Jabez' desk are a book by Abdul Alhazrd (sic) "Necro(nomicon?)", Colin Wilson's "The Mind Parasites", and what appears to be Jabez' own autobiography "No Way Out"!
