On-sale date from 1971 Periodicals, Copyright Office, Library of Congress with a correction factor of plus 28 days.

  • On the Horns of the Man-Bull! - Pencils credit from Nick Caputo via the GCD Error List (29 August 2006); the original indexer credited Marie Severin.
  • The Horns of the Bull! - Pages 12 and 13 are half story/half ad. Part 1 of Mr. Kline opus in DD, which crosses over with Iron Man (Marvel, 1968 series) #41-45 and Sub-Mariner (Marvel, 1968 series) #42.
  • - Checklist of Marvel comics "now on sale."
  • Portfolios - Illustrated ad for Daredevil and Spider-Man portfolios containing unpublished art and "complete reprint of Spidey #1" and "complete reprint of Daredevil #1." Each portfolio is $1.75 plus 50 cents postage or both sets for a total of $4.00 from Marvelmania, Dept. 6D, PO Box 718, Culver City, Calif. 90230.
  • Everything You've Always Wanted to Know About the Bullpen, But Were Afraid to Ask! - Stan Lee's Soapbox gives credit to the artists for working from a synopsis and delivering the finished art on deadline. The current issue of the Hulk is based on Tom Wolfe's "Radical Chic" and Wolfe appears in the story. Reed Crandall and Al Williamson are planning to illustrate stories. The Bullpen says they're swamped with requests for help for term papers, etc., from college students and don't have time to help with any of them, so stop asking. John Severin and his family (wife and six children) are moving to Colorado. Gene Colan is teaching a part-time course on comics in his home town in New Jersey. Lynn Wolley, news-reporter at KNOW radio in Houston and Mike Turner at WABC-FM in New York have been promoting Marvel comics. Doug Kenny, editor of the National Lampoon, visited the Bullpen and had a long talk with Stan. Also "Make Mine Marvel" flanked by headshots of Iron Man and Captain America.
  • - Letters of comment from Dave Handy (Roseburg, Ore.), Jim Vicko (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada), Mickey Blanchette (Ellsworth, Me.), Roger Schoolcraft (Follansbee, W. Va.), and Matthew Losordo (Howard Beach, N.Y.). Also a spot illustration from a previous issue.
  • The Keepers of the Crypt! - At bottom of second letters page. Promo for Conan the Barbarian #8. Layout splits the cover illustration and the issue logo and adds blurbs. This illustration does not have the alterations to the woman's face that appear on the published cover. Colors are different than the cover.
