On-sale date from DC Releases #27. Dennis O'Neil credited as issue editor on letters page apparently in error. The text "Abby's in Gotham City in Swamp Thing #51" is in UPC box. The Direct (first printing), Newsstand and Canadian variants have the regular cover differences in pricing, and UPC box contents, but have the same indicia, inside front cover, inside back cover, and back cover content. As of 2023-10-21, the Canadian variant indicia content has not been confirmed. The second, second (DC Multi-pack) and fourth printing variants were distributed to the United States direct market only, the content on the inside front cover, inside back cover and back cover varied, with some advertisements having a 1989 copyright date. The content of the UPC box also varied and additional text was added to he indicia indicating the printing sequence. As of 2023-10-21, no evidence of a third printing has been found.
